2022, a year of everything bitter-sweet

In no particular order, you can have a glimpse into what had been happening in my life in the last 365 days. While I had eventful moments, this is a rough highlight of the things I can remember while writing this.

Here’s to the year;

  1. I got heartbroken
  2. I lost my job
  3. I lost money
  4. Got depressed
  5. Traveled for weddings
  6. Got lost on a road trip
  7. Lost my beloved uncle and another to banditry in the space of a week, among other losses.
  8. Enjoyed staying alone (it can be toxic any way so please, don’t try it if you are not fit to.)
  9. Quitted Social Media and gave zero damns.
  10. Took God more seriously.
  11. Left a big church for a smaller church (I’m talking population here and if you’re asking why? I wanted to be more and needed a platform for that.)
  12. Joined the workforce in my new church… I’ll probably be singing till thy kingdom comes. (Don’t overthink it, I don’t sound like Whitney Houston).
  13. Tried my hands on a couple of new skills.
  14. Saw only a few through but on the side, don’t tell anyone I told you — I hate coding!
  15. Picked up writing gigs here and there. I love writing except for some days when my brain can’t seem to bail me out.
  16. Family and friends came through for me in my shenanigans.
  17. I started to feel like me again. Honestly, this has to be the best thing that happened to me. (Kelly Riddle wrote; take time for yourself. How long? Until you feel like yourself again). While I can’t tell if she is totally right or wrong, I know that I healed and if you’re caught between a lot too, you can heal.
  18. Made new friends and relationships.
  19. Read more books and blogs.
  20. Broke one of eye glasses.
  21. Had my phones spoilt, three of them… you know how it goes. Felt more frustrated when I realized I didn’t back my data up to my drive. A category of losses.
  22. I anticipated the year coming to an end after the sixth month. (Shhh… don’t blame me😂)
  23. Fell in love in the most unexpected way.
  24. Wrote on medium after a long disappearance. How do I explain that I visit Medium every day?

Now, I figure there’s a lot I can say about the year, however; I am more than grateful it’s been an eventful year. I did some really cool stuffs too, but this post is long enough.

I’d leave you with this. Whatever you are feeling or going through, walk through the feelings ensuring that you are growing for you, you are healing for you; you are showing up for you and getting to be a better person, all for you.

It’s not because you will do all by yourself, but you are halfway down the road when you realize it’s your life and no matter how messy it gets, it is still your own. Continue to put in the work and you’ll be glad you did.

Cheers to 2023, my hopes are high!

Thank you for sticking with me. I look forward to writing more.
