And maybe they aren’t simple

It’s five days into the new year, and I have struggled with the thoughts of pulling this post down since I did not hit the publish button in good time. Again, maybe there is never a good time to share with you some of my majors. I call them “simple’’ lessons from the previous year.

A little about my year

It was indeed a long year, and I got exhausted for a better part of it. I had my strength tested, my courage tried, and some other days, I woke up to question my abilities.

Every day did not get me feeling like a Super-girl that I wished we didn’t have to try so hard to make meanings out of life — its beautiful, unprecedented, and sometimes unsolicited experiences. In all, I’m grateful the year happened.

You know why? It left me with lessons and memories I wouldn’t trade for a bag of gold coins. I got extra gifts — relationships and connections. That would make the highlights.

I named 2020 a learning year for me. What is yours?

20 Lessons from a year 20…

Why am I sharing this with you? Sometimes we focus so much on the big lessons and ignore the basic could be simple lessons. As little as they may appear, it goes a long way in defining who you are, your decision-making processes, and the value you place on people and the environment around you.

  1. The next minute isn’t promised, not just tomorrow only.
  2. Everyone deserves a measure of love and kindness.
  3. Opportunities are no longer behind doors. They keep moving all around so, walking up to them wouldn’t be a bad idea.
  4. Borrow if you must but only for profitable things, and remember to return every borrowed item or money at the right time. Why put your integrity on the stakes? Or do you even have one — integrity?
  5. Quit asking for what has been promised you incessantly especially if a gift. It is not your entitlement. The person will do it whenever he or she wants to.
  6. Perhaps there are no secrets; speak the truth about things.
  7. Family moments are so underrated. Lockdown showed me. Cherish them!
  8. Speak up for right always for, there’s a consequence for every action, good or bad.
  9. Let go of hate. It will ruin you recklessly.
  10. Meet people. Don’t get tired. That’s the only way to know those to keep.
  11. Live below your means and above your needs.
  12. Do not wear out the engine — your body. Put it to rest.
  13. If you have to lose all, don’t lose you. And if you ever do, allow others to find you.
  14. Let the success of others motivate you to get your own healthily.
  15. Read but also learn as your life depends on it.
  16. Make peace with your past, appreciate the events, and move on!
  17. There’s nothing weak and humiliating about asking for ideas and inputs when you have none.
  18. Being a sorry monger doesn’t make you the better person in every event.
  19. Some days will make you bend but, you don’t break.
  20. Life Begins at 30. Well, No!!! Life begins when you are ready to start. Early won’t be a bad idea.

While it’s another year with the hypes, expectations, and desires, I sincerely hope you have an amazing one giving each day the best of you, as you brace up for new experiences and lessons.
